Archery is back in Millard County with a huge indoor archery winter 3D league every Monday night.

Delta now has a full pro-shop and indoor archery range.

During the past six weeks guys and gals have gathered to get out of the rain and snow to hone their skill of shooting archery.

With new archery range setups weekly, including artificial Christmas trees, logs, and obstacles; the 3D animal targets (compacted foam that will stop a 300 fps compound bow) configurations were placed strategically for the archers to practice what they love during the offseason.

The league was comprised of a father-son or father-daughter pairing that began each Monday night at 6 p.m.

The variety of beginning shooters and experienced archers were a sight to see.

With bows and arrows in hand, the 25-yard indoor range brought many smiles to team league shooters.

Ages of participants were from 8-year-old kids up to teenagers, all making memories with their dads while shooting their compound bows. All shooters looked to enjoy a little summer recreation during the winter months out of the cold.

The second league was a bit more competitive with intense shot-makers still in two-man teams starting each Monday at 8 p.m. The group’s skill was amazing to see with 20 different archers shooting side by side. The shot-making ability to squeeze each arrows between the trees, above obstacles, and around brush was unparalleled.

“It was so fun to just get out and shoot my bow when it is usually stored away because of the cold weather,” said Josh Ashby, local archer and shooter.

Curtis Kelly who traveled two hours to come each Monday night exclaimed, “So grateful to be spending time with my daughter and making memories doing one of my favorite things, shooting my bow!”

Another said, “I broke many arrows trying to make the difficult shots, but what a blast spending time with the guys practicing for the upcoming archery season.”

Congratulations to the first annual winter league winners.

For the Father/Kid league was first place Justin Losee and 12-year-old Ranger Losee; second place was Payson native, Curtis Kelly and Brynn Kelly. Third place was won by local archers JJ Lovell and Briggs Lovell.

Winners of the 8 p.m. winter two-man league and belt buckles were presented to first place Josh Ashby and Justin Ashby, second place Justin Losee and Ranger Losee, and third place was Lynn Ashby and Zach Harris.

Thank you to all who participated this year and shout out to “Hunting Spot” Pro-Shop for hosting the first annual Delta archery leagues.

Look for a spring outdoor league coming soon, so dust off those bows and bring them into to the pro shop to get new strings and tuned for the upcoming leagues.

This is a chance to make memories with your kids and friends here in the community.
