Cecil Thurlow Jacobson, age 80, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at his home in Oak City, Utah.

 He was born on February 9, 1937 in Delta, Utah, the second child and only son of the eight children of Wilmer Thurlow and Ada Anderson Jacobson. He was always a wild tease to he seven sisters. He graduated from Delta High School and then served in the Southwest Indian LDS Mission among the Hopi and Zuni tribes of Arizona. After returning, he spent some time as a logger in Washington and Oregon, then moved back to Salt Lake City. He served many years in the National Guard. He worked as a custodian and security guard for the properties of the LDS Church. He had a wonderful tenor voice and performed the Messiah on Temple Square every year as a member of the Salt Lake Oratorio Society. He loved being in the outdoors, traveling all over the northwest being a rockhounder. He loved animals and tenderly cared for his dogs, rabbits and chickens. He loved gardening and raised beautiful orchids.

Cecil is survived by his dogs: Ben & Buddy; sisters: Bertha Jacobson, Della Jacobson, Connie Moosman, Marilyn Schurtz, Nancy Oveson, Sheila Woodbury; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister: Vonita Bradbury.

A Graveside Service with military honors will be held on Saturday, June 24, at 1:00 PM at the Oak City Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.nicklemortuary.com
