Ava Bishop Losee, age 93, passed away peacefully in Delta, Utah on February 2, 2018.

She was born January 16, 1925 in Delta, Utah, the seventh of eight children born to John Avery and Lemira Walker Bishop. She graduated from Delta High School in 1943. She attended B.A.C. (Business Agricultural College) in Cedar City and graduated in 1945. She married Cecil Dee Losee in the Salt Lake Temple September 4, 1946. He passed away February 19, 2009. She was the custodian for the Delta 2nd Ward Church for many years, and she loved planting flowers around the church every spring to make the grounds look beautiful. She planted tomatoes, peppers and flowers to sell at Losee Lumber. She always loved serving others. She volunteered doing patients’ hair at the Care Center each week for many years. She served in the LDS Church in many callings including Stake Primary, Relief Society, nursery; and she especially loved her 8-year old Primary class. She loved weaving rag rugs and did that for over 60 years, and taught her children to weave. She could turn rags into beautiful long lasting rugs, and did that up until her birthday 2 weeks ago. She and Ruby Bishop wrote and directed road shows in the Delta 2nd Ward for many years where they took 1st place in the stake many times. She was an accomplished artist and did beautiful oil paintings. Music was an important part of her life. She loved all kinds of music. She led the singing in Primary and Junior Sunday School and loved every minute of it. She sang in the ward choir until she turned 90. She helped several of her grandchildren practice the piano for many hours. She loved following her grandchildren, and supported them in sport, religious, theatrical, and musical activities. Ava and Cecil went on an 18 month mission to Nauvoo and enjoyed performing in the “Sunset on the Mississippi” and “Rendezvous” shows. This is where she learned to play the “gut” bucket. She was able to sing and play along in the senior couples band. After Nauvoo, they served a two year part time mission at Cove Fort where she continued to perform in the summer. She joined the Old Time Fiddlers and continued to sing and play the “gut” bucket for several years where they played at the Care Center and Senior Citizens’ Centers monthly. She loved watching BYU football and basketball, and was an avid Utah Jazz fan.

Ava is survived by her sister: Ora Mae May, Overton, NV; children: Gary (Jane Ann) Losee, Delta; Paul (Carolyn) Losee, Layton; Mark (Gwen) Losee, Delta; Blair (Sandy ) Losee, South Jordan; Floyd (Barbara) Losee, Pleasant Grove; Celia (Kevin) Harris, Delta; Nancy (Greg) Jones, Taylorsville; and Ranae (Steve) Crozier, Girdwood, AK; her ninth child, Janett, returned to God after a short stay on earth; 49 grandchildren, 115 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by one great-grandson, Carter Cowley.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 11:00 AM, at the Delta 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 220 West 200 North. Viewings will be held on Friday evening, 7:00-9:00 PM, at the Nickle Mortuary, 190 South Center St; and Saturday, 9:30-10:40 AM, prior to the service. Interment will be at the Delta City Cemetery.
