Notice of Deputy Sheriff Employment Opening The Millard County Sheriff’s Office is currently creating an employment roster for Certified Deputy Sheriff positions. This roster will be used to immediately fill current openings and may be used for future employment openings with the Millard County Sheriff’s Office. Positions include employment as Law Enforcement Deputy or Correctional Deputy. Deputies perform law enforcement and correctional duties for the citizens of Millard County and the State of Utah under Utah Code and Sheriff’s Office Policy and Procedures. One of the positions currently open is a law enforcement West Desert resident position - requiring residency in that area. The West Desert position also requires unique skill sets of horsemanship, knowledge of livestock laws including brand inspection, and others. Previous law enforcement experience strongly suits candidacy for the West Desert position. Position descriptions include, but are not limited to: • Scheduled shift work and weekends • Subject to call-outs and emergencies • Perform law enforcement duties • Perform investigative, evidentiary, reporting, and testimony functions • Interact with other law enforcement at State and Federal levels • Work within existing State and Federal law, case law, and policies • Submit to and pass random drug testing • Other duties as assigned • May involve residency requirements Minimum eligibility requirements include, but are not limited to: • 21 years of age or older • High School graduate or equivalent • U.S. Citizen at time of employment • Completed Sheriff’s Office employment application • Possess valid Utah Driver License • Successfully pass the National Police Officer Selection Test (N-POST) • Successfully pass Millard County and POST pre-certification physical testing • Successfully pass pre-employment drug screening • Successfully pass background check • May be required to pass pre-employment firearms qualification test • May be required to pass a truth verification examination • May be required to pass psychological screening test Important information regarding the N-POST, Academy entrance requirements, and disqualifying factors are found via contents at: https://post.utah.gov/prospective-officers/ Preference may be given to applicants with current Utah Peace Officer certification. Successful applicants not currently certified as Peace Officers will be trained.
