Kirk Douglas McAbee (Doug) passed away January 6, 2024, of complications to throat cancer.
Doug was born December 29, 1964 in Bakersfield, California, and grew up in Westminster, CA. Doug went to school at Sequoia Elementary Johnson Jr. High, and Westminster High School, and graduated in the Class of 83.
After graduation, he joined the Army and spent 10 years mostly stationed at Colorado Springs, CO.
He met his first wife, Diana, and became a stepdad to Shylo. They divorced shortly after Doug was deployed during Desert Storm.
After leaving the Army, Doug joined his parents, Jack and Laraine McAbee in Fillmore, Utah. This is where he met Teresa, and Doug became a stepfather to Eric and several other kids. Doug never lost contact with Eric, and the family considers him a McAbee.
After Doug and Teresa divorced, he moved to Panama City, Florida and bought a house on the gulf.
Doug is preceded in death by his brother-in-law Mark Rodrick, mother LaRayne Barkdull McAbee, and his dad, Jack McAbee.
Doug is survived by his little sister, JoDonna McAbee, his son Eric Swan and six grandchildren.
There will be no services.
