Paul Edwin Skeem, 66 was born April 8, 1957, in Delta, Utah to Elva LaRue Webb and Fred Arthur Skeem.
Paul died of natural causes on February 26, 2024, in Provo, Utah.
In his early childhood, Paul attended Hinckley Elementary school. He was known as a quiet or shy child. Some might question if he was actually quiet, or just seemed so when compared to his pack of brothers. The brothers were inseparable, doing everything together from youth activities, farm work and many daily chores to help the family survive. He even followed his older brother into the same life-long work career. He learned an incredible work ethic that helped him succeed in everything he did.
He attended Delta High School and was involved in many activities. He was an avid student of woodworking and participated in and won many state competitions. As a senior he created a beautiful full bedroom set that took the top honors in state competition. Paul's stature of 6 foot 7 was naturally suited for basketball. He worked hard to hone his basketball skills and become good at the game. By his graduation, he was honored at the "All American" level and began getting offers to play in college. After much thought he decided instead to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served his two-year mission in Minnesota.
Luckily, he didn't completely freeze to death and was able to return home and attend college at SUU in Cedar City. It was there he met his first wife, Shelley. He built his first house in Hinckley, Utah where they welcomed their two daughters Ashley and Tiffaney. Paul bought a farm up on Cropper Lane, and it's there he built his beautiful current home and their family increased with their son Tyler and daughter Shanell. Paul was a wonderful father who fiercely loved his children.
Paul rarely had idle moments. He spent most of his career working at Intermountain Power Plant outside of Delta, Utah. He was an assistant trainer to the mechanics; he was able to travel and teach classes on laser alignment for part of his later career years. When he was on his "off work" hours, he spent time with his family, farming, ranching cattle, or many carpentry projects. Paul also taught carpentry night classes at the college in Delta for several years and was well known throughout the valley for his exceptional woodworking talents.
Paul had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and His church. He enjoyed sharing his testimony with family and others.
In 2006, Paul married the love of his life, Tami Bair. With this marriage, he gained 2 wonderful bonus children, Jalisa and Quincy. In their later years of marriage, they combined Tami's computer programming skills and his industrial laser wood lathe to create some of the most beautiful creations. They loved doing projects together in his big wood shop.
As incredibly talented as he was, his huge heart, his selfless caring and service toward others or his endless teasing will be missed most. He was a good man, a great husband, a wonderful father and loved sibling. He will be greatly missed!
Paul is survived by his wife, Tami Bair, his children Ashley (Bryony) Adams of Saratoga Springs, UT, Tiffaney (Jared) Rawlinson of Oak City, UT, Tyler (Vicki) Skeem of Tremonton, UT, Shanell Skeem of Pleasant Grove, UT. His bonus children Jalisa (Derek) Cruz of Lehi, UT and Quincy Bair of Lehi, UT.
His grandchildren: Jett, Jax, Trey and Avalynn Rawlinson, Ethan, Reece, and Jayden Skeem, Teya, Junior, Kalise, and Reyna Cruz
His siblings, Beverly Roth, South Jordan, UT, Sheldon (Debbie) Skeem, Oasis, UT, Gwen (Mark) Losee, of Delta, UT, Jerry (Leandra) Skeem, of Oasis, UT, David (Hung) Skeem, Franklin, IN and Cheryl (Scott) Williams of Lehi, UT.
Preceded in death by his parents Fred Arthur and Elva LaRue Webb Skeem. Brother-in-law, Robert (Bob) Roth, nephew Johnathan Leslie Skeem and niece Karolyn Cheyanne Williams. In-Laws, great nephews Carter David Cowley, Nicholas Alexander Walther, LeGrande and Kathy Bair.
