Dear Editor,

I could not help but read the article about the “Millard County Fair” and have some feelings of disappointment and sadness!

I was involved as a Volunteer for over 20 years with the Fair, 15 years of that as the volunteer Director. All the Fair Board was and has been volunteer until recently when they hired a paid person as the Director. I have no problem with that as I feel as though the Director and Secretary should have had some small compensation all along as most other counties do. The Fair Director’s and board have done a super job.

Many of them working full-time, giving up family time, using personal leave from work, etc. I would like to personally thank all of the Past Fair Directors and Volunteer Boards who have worked so hard to make Millard County Fair one of the best small-town fairs. We have had some excellent entertainment over the years and have stretched budget money for the benefit of this county. The GOAL has always been what can we do better for the residents of Millard County. Please know that the GOAL has always been about the people. Every year we would look at what we could do new, better, etc. It was fun to see new people every year want to be a part of the fair!

These people were not only from Millard County, but all over the Western United States. Our local entertainment was always superb as well! Just to Name a Few, Who can beat entertainers such as Rosie Forster Crafts and Mincer Family, Witness Protection Band, Pistol Rock, local dance groups, Old Time Fiddlers, Kirk Hoggard, Acoustic Echo, Megan Huber, MHS Cheerleaders, and Millard County Royalties, Tractor Pulls, etc. And then there is the Entertainment that traveled to Delta, Utah from all over This world; Nitro Circus, Jason Hewlett, Quinn Dietlein and Family, Nerveless Nocks Cirque Extreme, Back Street Boys Tribute Band, Dark Nights Equestrian, Stingrays, Pirates of the Sky Aerial Acts, ZUZU African Acrobats, Elvis Impersonators, Hypnotists, Chinese Acrobats, Midget Warrior Wrestlers, Sumo Wrestlers, Hank Thompson, Jett Williams, Martin DelRay, Lowe Family from Branson, Eagles Tribute Band, Beach Boys Tribute Band, Luaus, Charley Jenkins, Alex Boye, Sean Nielsen MOTO-X, Ventriloquists, Extreme Jousting Group, Scales and Tails, Petting Zoos, Children Carnival Rides and Games, Train Rides, Pony Rides, Horse Buggy Rides, Rodeos and so much more!

Some of these entertainers that we have had at the Fair are Featured in shows around the world! There was Awesome Entertainment at the Millard County Fair!

We looked at Carnivals and it was a hard time of year in August. They were always booked and very spendy! I am proud to say that I was part of an Awesome Millard County Fair that was attended and was an awesome event for our county!

We also had awesome contests which included Baking, Running, Extreme Racing, Dutch Oven, Smoker Cooking, etc.

There was something for everyone and it was affordable!! I know that things may have not always been perfect, some things are out of our control! I know that things may need to change, but in that process, please do not take away from the “Awesome” things that happened at the Millard County Fair to this point!

And most of all, never take away from “Volunteers” who did take their time and use their talents for the benefit of this County! If it wasn’t for Volunteers in this County, we would not have all that we have or enjoy many of the events that we do! I HOPE FOR THE BEST WITH THE FAIR IN THE FUTURE!

Thanks for the Opportunity of working for and with the people of Millard County!!
