Dance enthusiasts, this is for you.

Delta Dance Studio is now offering youth dance classes for its 2023-2024 season. The studio started its courses Monday.

The brainchild of Maggie Webster and Briana Lemon, the studio offers classes for competition teams, recreational techniques and a preschool-kindergarten aged class. Children ages five to 12 can enroll in the competition teams. Beginner and intermediate to advanced classes are offered for recreational techniques.

Classes will be held at the M5 Remix Studio located behind Sparkle Beauty on Delta Main Street. Registration will remain open until Oct. 1. Parents can sign their dancers up online at deltadancestudio. com.

Dancers enrolled in classes at Delta Dance Studio will learn body awareness, coordination, flexibility, strength, musicality and performance skills. In addition to technical dance skills, Webster and Lemon believe dance can help students learn and develop as people and students gain confidence, courage, learn team-building and develop a positive mindset.

The competition teams and PreK classes will learn two dances, performing at local basketball games and competing in two out-of-town competitions. We recommend that students enrolled in the competition teams also enroll in a supplemental technique class for additional instruction.

The recreational/technique classes are for anyone interested in learning dance skills in a fun, inclusive class environment without the added obligations of performances and competitions. Students registered only in recreational/technique classes will still have the opportunity to perform a dance at an end-of-year recital if interested.

Webster and Lemon’s goal is to inspire the love of movement through the art of dance in a positive, team-building atmosphere. Both earned to dance as girls and were involved in both drill and cheerleading. They have experience choreographing for drill teams, teaching for various dance companies, and have continued using their love and skill for dance in a group fitness format they own together called StepIt Fitness.

“Dance has improved and shaped my life in so many ways! I’m so grateful to my dance instructors who helped me to find confidence and fall in love with dance as a kid,” Webster said. “Whether it be through making new friends, serving as a creative outlet/ hobby, or opening doors of opportunity, dance has impacted my life in so many ways! My goal for Delta Dance Studio is to share that same gift with the youth of our community.”
