A domestic altercation led to a felony charge against a Delta man last Wednesday.

Manolo Murillo, 38, was arrested last Wednesday after deputies received a complaint he had allegedly assaulted his partner.

A probable cause report states the victim had a friend drive her to the Millard County Sheriff’s Office substation, where she met with the responding deputy. The deputy reports the victim was complaining about her head and eye.

“The friend advised the victim stated Manolo hit her with a bat,” the report states. The deputy continued to take the victim’s statement after transport to the hospital.

While there, the victim stated she and Murillo had gotten into an argument over cleaning up after dinner. This escalated after the victim denied Murillo sex, which “lead to another argument with Manolo getting aggressive.”

The victim stated she had tried to call 911, but Murillo took her phone and broke it, then verbally stated he was going to kill her. The victim said during the altercation, Murillo “had hit her in the right eye, placed his forearm across her neck and had grabbed the hair on top of her head and swung a bat in a backhand swing at the back of her head.”

The victim was able to get away from Murillo and contact help through a second phone. The victim’s friend told the deputy they had heard the victim crying, stating “he hit me.”

Prior to his arrest, Murillo stated “he did not know anything about a bat,” and that he had not touched the victim. Instead, he said “the victim was coming after him so he left on a walk.”

Murillo is charged with third-degree felony aggravated assault and class B damage/interruption of a communication device. He is scheduled to make an initial appearance in court this morning.

Bail was set at $5,000.
