Sheepherders gather in Fillmore Feb. 24

Denys Koyle and Friends of the Territorial Statehouse invite you to the 19th Annual Old Sheepherders Gathering, Feb. 24, at the Territorial Statehouse State Park and Museum in Fillmore.

The event celebrates the history and culture of the sheep industry in the Great Basin Area. Sheepherders, sheep owners and operators (big or small), trappers, local elected officials, local economic and tourism personnel are invited. 

The Gathering will begin at 10 a.m. in the Legislative Hall of the Territorial Statehouse. 

Koyle will welcome the Gathering at 12 p.m. prior to a luncheon catered by Ashton Meats. Please pre-register so we know how many to plan for lunch. Registration is $25.

Clive Romney, storyteller, will emcee the storytelling program after lunch. Well-known sheep man, Joe Frischknecht, will share stories and poetry, followed by music and storytelling from Sam and Suzanne Payne. The finale will be the famous open-mic for anyone who wishes to share a memory, song, story, or poem.
