Ruby Lu Demill was born at 4:42 am on Jan. 24, 2024, the first baby of the New Year for Intermountain Health Fillmore Community Hospital.

She is the daughter of Brett and Megan, residents of Fillmore. Ruby weighed in at 7 pounds and was 18 inches long.

Ruby’s brother Caz was excited to welcome his sister to the family.

Dr. Craig Grose, the delivering physician, said, “Celebrating birthdays is the best thing we get to do. Starting a new adventure with a family as they welcome their new bundle of job brings new hope and happiness.”

“We are so excited for the Demill family and happy to be part of their experience. The New Year’s baby is one of our hospitals favorite things to celebrate. Ruby is the sweetest bundle of joy, she has filled our facility and our hearts with happiness,” said Shelby Bullock, women and newborn manager at the hospital.

Fillmore Community Hospital is an 18-bed facility serving the Fillmore area for more than 70 plus years.

Approximately 43 babies were born at Fillmore Community Hospital in 2023.

The new parents received a prize basket from Intermountain Healthcare to celebrate the New Year’s birth at Fillmore Community Hospital, which included generous donations from three Utah-based baby product vendors: Minky Couture; Loulou and Company; and Over the Moon.

The mom and baby also received gifts donated from businesses, including Farmers Insurance, Presidio Real Estate, Eagle Market, O&C Construction, Steve’s Tire & Car Quest, Millard County, Roper Lumber, Abrey Woodard, Tacos Los Panchos, Bella Ami Day Spa, Signature Real Estate Services, Fillmore Feed & Farm, Intercap Lending, Fillmore Handy Wash, State Bank, & Pahvant Valley Printing.
