Man missing since June found

The body of Dee Ray Humphries of Delta was found in Nevada on August 17 according to Lt. Morris Burton, Millard County Sheriff’s Office. Humphries , age 83, has been missing since late June. He was thought to be driving to Stockton, CA. Humphries’ car was located on a little used dirt road about three miles south of Hwy 722, sixty miles east of Fallon during the late afternoon on Friday, Aug. 16. Hwy 722 is a paved road running to the south of U.S. 50 between Austin and Middlegate, NV. Middlegate is on US 6&50 about 46 miles east of Fallon. The Churchill County Sheriff’s Offi ce searched the area where the car was found until dark on Friday. They resumed the search early the next morning. Humphries’ body was located about a quarter-mile south of the car in an area of sagebrush and juniper trees. Lt. Burton said no foul play is suspected. The Churchill County Coroner issued a preliminary fi nding of accidental death due to extreme weather conditions. Millard County Sheriff’s deputies were en route to Fallon when the body was found. They continued on and met with Churchill County deputies and members of the Humphries family to coordinate fi - nal investigative efforts.
