June 2, 1939 ~ Dec. 17, 2019

Ellis Miller completed his earthly mission on December 17, 2019 in Delta, Utah.

Ellis was born June 2, 1939 in Nephi, Utah, to Joseph George and Zenna Miller. Ellis spent his early years in Scipio, Utah where he learned the value of hard work. Ellis was extremely talented and was able to fix or repair almost anything. Ellis attended school in Scipio and Fillmore, Utah, graduating from Millard High School.

Ellis was the middle child of five siblings. He has two older brothers, Russel, of Richfield, Utah and Marlin, of Scipio, Utah. After Ellis was born came brother Que, of Mayfield, Utah and sister Teresa Clark, of Rockwall, Texas.

In his younger years, Ellis spent many weekends working in the pits at the Stock Car races at the Salt Lake County fairgrounds. This was a family affair.

They enjoyed going with him while he worked on his friend’s cars. Ellis spent many years deer hunting with his sons and grandchildren at a special spot south of Scipio where they bagged many bucks. The biggest bucks earned a spot on the milk barn, while the smaller ones stayed in the garage.

Ellis drove trucks for most of his life. He drove for Robinson Trucking of Salina, Utah for thirty years. In August 2008, he was awarded Truck Driver of the Month for the state of Utah.

After marrying Elaine, they moved to Texas for several years. Upon returning to Utah, Ellis and Elaine served as volunteers at the Cove Fort Historic Site for one year. Ellis really enjoyed the time he spent there. After that assignment, they worked at the baptistery in the Manti Temple for two years.

Ellis is survived by his wife Elaine, Children: Dennis Miller (Rhonda) of Santa Clara, Utah, Nanette Symes (Ward) of Washington, Utah, Edward Miller, (Ben Milnes) of Winter Haven, Florida. Ellis has 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. With the marriage to Elaine, Ellis added two more children, Denise Spurgin (Larry) of Gilmer, Texas, Corey Clark (Julie) of Copeville, Texas, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren to his family. Ellis was blessed to have Elaine as his wife, who he shared many great memories with and who took amazing care of him in his final years. Ellis was preceded in death by his father Joseph George Miller and Mother Zenna Memmott Miller, wife Kaye Hasley, wife, Irma West, son Jeremy Terry Miller, and great-grand-daughter Charlie Aurora Symes.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 PM at the Scipio LDS chapel on December 27. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 11 a.m. with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Also at the Scipio, LDS chapel.
