Nov. 16, 1928 ~ Jan. 6, 2020

Fillmore, Utah – Shirley Evans, age 91, passed away January 6, 2020 while holding hands with her husband of 72 years.

She was born November 16, 1928 in Parowan, Utah to George S. and Cora Rowley.  Shirley married her high School sweetheart, Lyle O. Evans, November 26, 1947 in the St. George LDS Temple.

Shirley led an active life. She enjoyed school and her many friends while growing up in Parowan, Utah.  She especially liked music and singing.  She was a member of an award winning trio for several years.

She married Lyle Evans, and they began a life together that would span 72 years.  Together they made life wonderful for their family and all who knew them.

Shirley was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She held many ward and stake positions including: Relief Society President, Primary President, Young Women President, music and choir director and many teaching assignments.  Together with Lyle, she served missions in the England South Mission, Martin’s Cove, and Cove Fort.  They served for many years at the Manti Temple.

The real love of her life was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Lyle and Shirley made sure they attended most special activities and events of their family.  Shirley has been a shining example of the Gospel she believed, and she will be greatly missed.  She loved life and her family, and she made it clear to all that she loved to serve others whatever their circumstance or need.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Lyle, daughter Robyn (Dan) Goff of Minersville, Utah; son Michael (Gwen) Evans of Fillmore, Utah; daughter-in-law Kathy Evans of Springville, Utah; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, son Rodney Evans, three brothers and her sister.
