Nov. 19, 1940 ~ Jan. 16, 2020

Leona Alverta Ferry Anderson, age 79 peacefully left this earth surrounded by her family and friends on January 16, 2020 in Salt Lake City, UT, after many years of battling end stage kidney failure.

Leona was born on November 19, 1940 to John Henry Ferry and Blanche St Clair Ferry in Delta, Utah. She married her “sweet pea,” Lee J Anderson on his birthday, Oct 23, 2004 in the Manti Temple. Lee preceded her in death on April 29, 2010. Leona faced many challenges throughout her lifetime, many that most would have not survived. These challenges gave Leona her fierce determination and stubbornness to get things done.

Leona could play most songs on her guitar or piano just by ear. She spent many years playing and bringing joy to family, friends and church members. The past couple Christmases she would sit and play for us, providing us with many enjoyable memories. Leona and her family would like to give special thanks to Symbi Home Health and Hospice for the amazing service they provided Leona over the past year. Each one of you are angels in your own ways.

Leona was blessed to have many special people in her life that provided her support and encouragement, so she could remain as independent as possible throughout her life. We love you all, however, there is one that Leona and her family couldn’t have survived the last couple years without, and that angel is Nancy Walker. Nancy would take Leona to her appointments, take her to the store or just come by the house to check up on her. Plus, she made the best chocolate chip cookies in the world. We all would fight over who would get the cookies she would bring, always hiding a few for Leona. They became like money in our house.

A graveside service and celebration of Leona’s life will be held on February 1, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Ephraim City Cemetery located at 650 North Main, Ephraim, Utah. Please come as you can and bring a special story or memory to share as we say goodbye to this beautiful soul.
