Nov. 24, 1950 ~ Feb. 19, 2020

Our precious Bob went home to God and family on February 19, 2020 after a life long struggle with many physical ailments.

The last year of his life was the most difficult. Bob was born on Nov 24, 1950 in Salt Lake Cit,y Utah.  He was raised by his grandmother Ora Paxton Higgins Anderson, and aunts and uncles.

Bob was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He always said Kanosh was God's country. He married Valyrie Jean Stenovich on April 23,1973. We were together for 47 years. He worked at the Chevron Station, for his Aunt Ethel and Uncle Grant Brunson, through high school until 1986 when we bought the business and began running the station as Bob Nafus service, AAA wrecker service, and small equipment rental. In later years we purchased the Kanosh Motel. Bob liked to think of Kanosh as a destination. He loved Kanosh and was always ready to help his community, neighbors, friends, family, and others in need. He loved hunting, camping and fishing when he could tear himself away from his work. Bob had a wry sense of humor and a way of making people feel welcome be it at work or at home. He was the most trustworthy person I know. He spent much of his youth helping his Grandma and uncles with the dairy, herding cattle, and farming. He could repair almost anything. He knew our mountains and desert well. He was involved in high school sports. He and two other friends still hold a record in track for a relay race. He was a town council member for 24 years. He also served as Kanosh Fire Chief for several years.

Bob and Valyrie have four children between them. Jodi (Derek) Eastridge, Jason (Shawna) Nafus, both preceded him in death, Kelly Nafus, and Alexi (Greg) Hadean. There are seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He will be missed and always loved.  Our little town of Kanosh won't be the same without you. We say goodnight, but never goodbye. We will meet on the other side.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 11 a.m. in the Kanosh Ward Chapel.  A viewing will be held Friday, February 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. both at the Kanosh Ward Chapel.  Interment will be at the Kanosh Cemetery under the care of Olpin Stevens Funeral Home.
