Joy Steele Miller was born on February 6, 1947 and passed away on April 1, 2020.

 

 She was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Samuel Hudson and Mary Louise (Parkman) Steele. She married Carl Roberts in 1966. They later divorced. On April 1, 2014 she married John A. Miller, they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple one year later on April 1, 2015.

 

Joy loved to study the Gospel and had a strong testimony. She loved to garden and could name just about any plant or flower she saw. She loved birds and could identify them as well. Hummingbirds were a particular favorite of hers. For many years she served in the Young Women and loved every minute. She enjoyed sewing. She could often be found serving her friends and neighbors and was always looking for a way to help. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandkids and her daughter.

 

Joy earned her Associates degree from Dekalb Community College. Her love of study led her to obtain a Bachelor's Degree from BYU. She late received a Masters in Social Work from Utah State University. Her passion was being a Sign Language Interpreter. She loved being part of the deaf community for many years.

 

Surviving Joy is her husband, John; daughter, Diana Schmidt; grandchildren: Logan (Lindsay) Schmidt, Marlene Schmidt, Katherine Schmidt, and Evan Schmidt; siblings: Vicki Steele, Rita (Patrick) Mahoney, and Hudson Steele; and lifelong friend Barbra (Rick) Downard who Joy considered her sister.

 

Interment will be in Utah Veterans Memorial Park Cemetery in Bluffdale, Utah.
