Ronald R. Hare passed away on April 10, 2020, after battling COPD for many years.
Ronald was born May 15, 1947 to Kenneth and Doreen Hare in Fillmore, Utah, where he lived most of his life.
Ron was the eldest of five brothers and one sister. As he grew up, he enjoyed reading and was always an exceptional student. He excelled in Speech and Debate and other extra-curricular activities. He graduated from Millard High School in 1965 at the top of his class.
Ron graduated from the University of Utah, S.J. Quinney College of Law with his Juris Doctorate in June 1971 and returned to Fillmore where he started his own private practice. Ron often said that his favorite of all court hearings was those for adoptions because everybody left court happy. He was sworn in as the East Millard County Justice Court judge in January 1979 and served for 32 years. He served on many professional boards and committees statewide. He made every effort to improve his hometown, county and state throughout his life.
On August 4, 1973, he married Georgia Brunson and adopted her son. The family was sealed for time and all eternity on March 17, 2000, in the Manti Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ron and Georgia took special interest in helping teens and young adults who were struggling with addictions and maintained lifelong contact with many of them. They served a service mission in the LDS Addiction Recovery Program for several years. In his later years, Ron’s focus was on the care of his beloved companion as she struggled with failing health. Georgia passed away on August 27, 2015, after which Ron longed to be reunited with her. Ron’s greatest joy, apart from Georgia, was his three grandsons. He loved to be a part of everything they were doing and extended his love to their wives and the three beautiful great-grandchildren they brought into his life. His love, wit, and friendship will be missed by family and those who knew him best.
Ron is survived by his son, Curt (Sherry); grandsons, Casey (Taylor), Mike (Kimber) and Matt; three brothers, Garry (Dawn), David (Betty) and Jim (Connie) and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Georgia, parents Ken and Doreen, sister Julie Lynn and brother DeMar. Due to the current pandemic, no public funeral services will be held.
