Lillis June Rogers Byers, age 81, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2020 in Salt Lake City, Utah, from pancreatic cancer.

She was born in Los Angeles, California, on May 2, 1939 to John Victor Rogers and Lillian Stead Rogers and grew up on a farm in Kanosh, Utah, learning how to work with her family. She went to school in Kanosh and graduated from Millard High School in 1957. She worked as a receptionist for a doctor in Salt Lake City and at age 21 served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central Atlantic States in North Carolina and Virginia. When she returned she worked as a medical secretary in Salt Lake.

She married Frank LeRoy Byers in the Los Angeles California Temple in 1968. They resided in Riverside, California, then in Columbus, Nebraska. In 1980 they moved to Salt Lake City to be closer to family members.

She is survived by her husband Frank, a sister, Kathie Rogers Smith of Brigham City, two brothers: John S. Rogers (Kathryn Ann) of West Jordan, and Craig Rogers (Lissa) of Cedar City, sister-in-law Tamara Rogers, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and older brother David Rogers.

Lillis was always active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully. She loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. She enjoyed reading and old movies. Lillis and Frank celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2018 with family and friends.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah 84123 from 9 to 9:45 a.m. followed by the funeral at 10 a.m. She will be buried in Kanosh City Cemetery that afternoon about 1:30 p.m. It is requested that participants wear masks (not provided) and social distance.
