Feb. 16, 1949 ~ July 31, 2020
Darwin Chester Wheeler, 71, beloved father, grandfather, father-in-law, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep while in one of his favorite places, the mountains.
He was born on Feb. 16, 1949 in Ely, Nevada to Chester O. and Lorene D. Wheeler.
He grew up in Garrison, Utah where he attended his first 8 years of formal education. After 8th grade, he attended and graduated from Delta High School in 1967. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Calgary, Canada from 1969-1971. After returning from his mission, he attended the College of Southern Utah. He married in June of 1972 and had 5 children.
He dedicated his life to his family and his farm. He had a deep love for the gospel of Jesus Christ, nature, and anything with wheels. His favorite pastimes were going to the canyon for Dutch oven cookouts, riding his motorcycle, deer watching, and strumming on his guitar.
He preferred to work out of the spotlight, quietly touching people’s lives. His gentle and forgiving nature will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his siblings: Sharon Marie, James LeRoy, Carolyn Lorene, his five children: Jaime Lynn (Carlos) Samaniego, Sherry Ann (Alex) Brunt, Tyler Darwin (Camrin) Wheeler, Christopher C. (Alicia) Wheeler, Amanda Jean Wheeler, and 22 grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 11 a.m. in the Fillmore City Cemetery. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Olpin Stevens Funeral Home in Fillmore, Utah.
