Matthew Ty Finlinson died unexpectedly in Lehi, Utah, and returned to live with his Heavenly Father on July 25, 2020, at the age of 33.
Matt is survived by his parents, Lynn and Janet George Finlinson of Orem, Utah; siblings, Jeremy Finlinson, Natalie Montgomery (Kurt), Liberty Givens (Cortland), Michelle Shimmen (Peter), Jamie Monda (Brad), Benjamin Finlinson (Valerie), Luke Finlinson, Adam Finlinson (Stephanie), and Jake Finlinson (Beth).
Matt was born on December 31, 1986 in Dallas, Texas, to Lynn and Janet Finlinson. He graduated from Plano East Senior High in 2005. Matt served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Santa Rosa, California. Matt was a beloved uncle to thirty-two nephews and nieces and had an amazing talent to make each of them feel special and loved. Matt was a kind and gentle soul who made friends wherever he went and in all that he did.
Matt loved to spend time with his family, brothers and friends golfing, bowling, skiing, watching basketball, gaming, skeet shooting, boating and hiking. Matt was a history enthusiast and enjoyed watching war and history documentaries. Matt was always up for an adventure and willing to serve and help anyone in need.
A funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at the Hillcrest 6th Ward church building at 1035 South 800 East, Orem, Utah, 84097. A viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. A graveside dedication and service will be held the same day at 3 p.m. at the Oak City, Utah, cemetery.
