Jeannie was born May 16, 1939 in Delta, Utah to Bob and Dorthy Barber. She graduated from Delta High School in 1957 and married Gary Clark on January 26, 1960.

Jeannie and Gary had three children that they raised, for the most part, in West Valley City, Utah, between Gary’s military reassignment locations. These assignments took them to various bases and places around the world and in the States.

Jeannie worked for and retired from First Security Bank. After retiring, she spent the next few years enjoying life; she loved to go on cruises, taking several cruises with her daughter, reading and vacationing in Montana with Gary. She even indulged in her love of reading by volunteering some of her time at a local library.

Jeanie sold the family home in West Valley City and moved to Beaver Dam, Arizona, where she spent seven years enjoying the beauty of the desert, before moving to Meridian, Idaho, in July of this year to live out the rest of her life surrounded by family.

Jeannie’s greatest successes, and one of the hardest jobs of any woman could have, was being a career soldier’s wife and supporting Gary in his many deployments, relocation assignments, and schooling all while taking care of all the household needs, expenses and raising a family, at most times, as a single parent. Her independence and commitment to family shone through all her interactions and associations, as did her love of sweets and books. Though her spirit has left us, her memories will reside forever in our hearts.

Jeannie is preceded in death by husband, M SGT Gary Clark; daughter, Karen Clark; parents, Bob and Dorthy Barber.

She is survived by daughter, Dorthy (Jody) Jonsson; son, Gordon (Carmen) Clark; Brother, Bob (Leslie) Barber; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren

Grave side services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 17 at Valley View Memorial Garden Cemetery, 4335 West 4100 South. West Valley, Utah.
