May 22, 1948 ~ Dec. 1, 2020

Gail Gwinn Hamilton, age 72, passed away in Delta, Utah on December 1, 2020 after a short illness.

She was born on May 22, 1948 in San Rafael, California to James Edward and Voyzie Lorene Smith. She married Dale Paul Hamilton on April 8, 1970 and they were later divorced. The lights of her life were her two sons and her grandchildren. She retired from the Eddy County Detention Center January 1, 2011. She was well liked by her co-workers and considered a dependable officer with a generous and kind heart.

Gail loved to sing with her six siblings when the family all got together and was as competitive as an Olympic athlete when she played any card games, which was often. She was secure in her relationship with Christ and is safe in His arms at last. After living in Carlsbad, New Mexico most of her life, she relocated to Delta in July of 2020. Unfortunately, her time with us was cut short. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by both her parents, and her oldest sister, Nancy Alice Hatley, nee Smith.

She is survived by her sons, Brady (Michelle) Hamilton, Scott Hamilton, and her grandchildren, Hayden, William, Sarah, Brianna, all of Carlsbad New Mexico; her siblings, Jeff (Elaine) Smith, Carlsbad, New Mexico; Linda (Marlin) Henderson, Rogers, Arkansas; Bonnie (Darrell) Christiansen, Rock Springs, Wyoming; Terri (Richard) Jones, Delta, Utah; June (Paul) Maxwell, Delta, Utah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She will be interred in Carlsbad, New Mexico on Friday, December 11, at the Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.

For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and he shall stand at last on the earth; and after my skin is destroyed, this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!
