Nephi Fife, husband to Sophia Romulo Fife and father of Hannah Fife, passed away Dec. 7, 2020 at their home in Layton, Utah.

Nephi was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia on  July 26, 1989, son of Frank Michael (Mike) and Andrea Caroline Padgett Fife. Nephi grew up in the United States and lived across the country in Virginia, Missouri, Tennessee, and Utah.

 

Nephi earned his Eagle Scout award as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and graduated from Box Elder High School in 2008. Following high school, he served briefly as a missionary for the Church in the Philippines Olongapo Mission where he learned the Tagalog language. From the time he was young, Nephi loved studying the scriptures and learning of Jesus Christ and sharing his testimony of the Savior.

 

Nephi entered military service with the US Air Force in 2009. Nephi served as a member of the Security Forces at Edwards AFB and Hill AFB. His deployments included Afghanistan, Turkey, and Okinawa, Japan. Nephi’s defensive actions while serving preserved the lives of those he served with. Additionally, investigations he performed in defense of children (more than 40 victims) brought those responsible to justice.

 

Nephi suffered from PTSD secondary to service for his country. He is survived by his wife Sophia Romulo Fife, daughter Hannah Fife, as well as his parents and his siblings Sherri Anne (Arthur) Laguna, Joseph Michael (Rebecca) Fife, Caroline Elizabeth (Bradley) Roring, Christina Isabel Fife, and Hannah Charlene Fife. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Frank Dee Fife, Charles Lewis Padgett and Edna Mae Merriman Padgett.

He is buried at Lakeview Cemetary 1640 Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah. Those wishing to share memories and condolences may do so on the Nephi Fife public page on Facebook.
