May 29, 1971 ~ Jan. 11, 2021

Marcy Lynn Smith, age 49, adored daughter, sister, aunt and friend to so many passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 in Murray, Utah.

She was born on May 29, 1971 in Payson, Utah to Douglas Alan and Kathy Finlinson Smith. Marcy was born with Downs Syndrome, but she excelled and thrived in spite of her challenges. She was able to manage her education and graduated from Delta High School only a year behind her age group in 1991. Marcy always loved being the center of attention. She loved to 'make an entrance' when she entered a room; and often requested her sister to announce her, so she wouldn't miss getting everyone's attention. She enjoyed singing, dancing, poetry, typing, painting and coloring, and cooking. She learned to read music and play the piano. She enjoyed participating in the County Fairs and was always proud of the ribbons she earned with her pictures and baking. She loved to get dressed up and always had a flair for the dramatic. She loved people and was always so thoughtful and kind to everyone who stepped into her path.

After graduating, she got a job working at Delta Jubilee. She worked there as long as she could, for over a decade, and loved to greet all her friends that came through the doors. Many will have the memories of Marcy calling you by name, and sharing a big sincere hug. Marcy made people feel special.

Marcy had strong testimony and attended church every Sunday. She led the music in Relief Society for many years. She loved to share her testimony and lifted those around her lucky enough to hear it.

Marcy was a blessing to her family. Her relationships with them were what she most valued in life. She had a special bond with her mom, who was her best friend and supporter and they did everything together. Spending time with her Grandma Finlinson was her favorite and when she wasn't with her Mom, she was with her Grandma. Marcy has many aunts and uncles that have been a special part of her life as well. After her Mom passed away, she became especially close to her Dad, developing a special father-daughter bond that was precious to see.

A sincere thanks goes out the our community for all the support and acceptance given to Marcy over these many years. During the past year, Marcy went into the Millard Care Center and made many more friends there. Thank you for your care. Marcy loved you all. Marcy was always herself and gave others the courage to be themselves too. Marcy is our sunshine.

Marcy is survived by her father: Doug Smith; sister: Cristine (Scott) Fuller; brother: Mike (Jen) Smith; nieces and nephews: Amanda and Brandon Fuller; Kylie and Taya Smith; grandmother: Sarah Finlinson. She was preceded in death by her mother: Kathy; grandfather: Lyman Finlinson; grandparents: Roy and LaVell Smith.

Due to concerns around COVID, Funeral Services attended by family will be held on Saturday, January 16. Friends are invited to view the recorded video of the service. The link will be posted with her obituary at www.nicklemortuary.com by Saturday afternoon. Burial will be in the Sutherland Cemetery.
