John Leonard Gardner passed away unexpectedly at home in Washington, Utah on Jan. 15, 2021.

He was born Feb. 8, 1954 in Wheeler, Texas to Vernon and Rose Gardner. He grew up in Monticello, Utah, enjoying the mountains, hunting and riding motorcycles. He participated in the Royal Rangers. He married the love of his life and best friend Jody Bergman Gardner. They celebrated 47 years of marriage.

 

John worked very hard to raise six amazing children, in which he loved and adored more than anything.

 

John was a truck driver for 36 years. He drove all 48 states and over a million miles. Oh, the stories and knowledge he would share when he was home and to others! He enjoyed staying busy with wood-working, yard work and being with his family. He is and was one of a kind.

 

John is survived by his loving wife, Jody of Washington, Utah; children Joy (Ruben) Partridge of Hinckley, Utah; Bonnie Gardner of Delta, Utah; Tara Cox of Nephi, Utah; Barbara Kooken of Roosevelt, Utah; John Gardner II and Nathaniel Gardner of Washington, Utah. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Joyce Cook; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Gene, Grant, and Jack, and his four sisters Mary, Elaine, Jeanette and Brenda; son-in-law Casey Yates. Dad made many close friends over the years.

 

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Jan. 30 2021 at 1 p.m. in the Washington, Utah city cemetery. Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks are recommended.
