I, Joyce Ann Hinton Frampton, was born October 27, 1953 in Alamogordo, New Mexico to my loving parents Arvid and Molly Hinton. I was the first of 4 children and had 3 younger brothers.
My upbringing, being the oldest child, and my father serving in the United States Air Force, shaped me in many ways to become the woman I am. Throughout my school years, I excelled in academics, art and also enjoyed sports. I lived in various places such as England; Caribou, Maine; Wheatland, California; and Hurricane, Utah. I gathered many friends and wonderful memories along the way.
In 1971, my father retired from the Air Force and my family moved to Meadow, Utah. I began my senior year at Millard High School. That November, Steve and I went on our first date, we attended the Gold and Green ball in Flowell. We continued our courtship and in February of 1972, Steve asked me to another dance. This was the Millard High Sweetheart Ball, to be held on Valentines Day. It was then he proposed to me as his 'sweetheart' and I accepted. Upon graduating MHS, I received an art scholarship to Dixie College. I have always had a passion for art and penmanship. However, Steve and I decided to stay in Fillmore to begin our lives together. That summer, we were married in Meadow, Utah on June 30 . Our marriage was later solemnized, January 24, 1989, in the Manti temple. In August of 1974, I became a Mother to Tina Marie. We welcomed our second daughter April Joy in April 1978.
Along my journey, I worked various jobs sharpening my skills which prepared me for future endeavors. It was October 1977 that Steve and I purchased Don's Tire from Don Turner, whom Steve had worked for. We grew our business in multiple ways. Steve and I were, and continue to be, grateful to provide services and jobs for our beautiful communities. I treasure the numerous relationships that have been built over the last 43 years. In 1993, we built our home and included with it a Bed and Breakfast. We settled on the name Suite Dreams. I have a great love for our little town and enjoyed sharing our little slice of Heaven here in Fillmore. For nearly 11 years, Steve and I hosted many people for local events, celebrations, weddings and club dinners. We also accommodated travelers from near and far. I was able to share my delicious cooking and creative talents. I appreciated the opportunity to serve and meet new people.
In 1996, I became a grandma. While they were young, my grandchildren called me Nanny, and as they all grew my name shortened to Nan. I have such a great love for each of them. I enjoyed spending time supporting them with their activities, making crafts, baking, traveling, watching movies, and giving much loving advice of life. One of my greatest joys and accomplishments in my life has been being a wife, mother and Nan.
Our love of travel gave Steve and I the opportunity to experience some amazing and historical places. One of my favorites being the beautiful waters of Santorini, Greece. I thoroughly soaked in the memories and incorporated my inspirations into our home as well as community. I have been involved with various organizations such as the Cancer Society, served on Fillmore City Council, Relief Society President, as well as various local church callings. I strived to give 100 percent in life and do good works. I often looked for ways to improve myself mentally, physically and spiritually. I have a deep faith, along with a love of nature and sought to learn ways to improve my health through holistic and natural methods.
In July 2018, much to my surprise, I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. I had a team of wonderful doctors and together, we made a plan. I continued to learn of the treatment I would receive and educated myself with practices I could use to support my wellness. Through faith, my strong will, prayers and support of loved ones along with medical treatments, we had great success. My doctors could no longer detect cancer in my lungs. The summer of 2020, I was disheartened to be told the cancer had found its way to my brain. It was then I realized there may be other plans for me. I began preparing for what could come, staying optimistic that there might be a miracle. Slowing down, I accomplished the tasks I could, while honoring my body and mind. I was blessed by the loving support of special friends and family. As independent as I have been, it was humbling to be on the receiving end. My family would read your messages to me, I smiled and felt the love from each of you. It's been a wonderful life.
On the morning of February 4, surrounded by family, I peacefully took my last breaths upon this earth.
Joyce is preceded in death by her father Arvid, brother Joe, father-in-law Robert H Frampton, many grand-parents, and numerous pets.
Joyce is survived by her sweetheart of 48 years Steve; mother Molly Hinton; mother- in-law Evelyn Frampton; sisters Diane (Dwight) Memmott, Terri; brothers: David (Minda) Hinton, Darby Hinton; daughters: Tina (Jason) Rasmussen, April (Randy) Mullins; grandchildren: Mariah (Cole) Britton, Megan (Payton), Gage; bonus grandchildren: Aubrey (Jed), Kensie (Gavin), Ryleigh, Tessa, RJ; great grandchildren: Ayzlee, Brecklei, one on the way in May and her Steve's Tire/ Carquest family
My family and I sincerely thank so many of you in our community for the comforting words, acts of kindness, food, and overall support. Special thanks to the amazing staff at our hospital, Dr. Brown and wonderful hospice nurses that provided such tender care.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the Fillmore 4th Ward Chapel. Viewings will be held Friday, February 12, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services both at the church. Interment in the Fillmore City Cemetery.
