Redmond, Utah – Danny Gene O’Neil Sr., age 61, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home in Redmond on February 13, 2021.

He was born April 21, 1959 in Rexburg, Idaho, a son of Michael “Dean” Louie and Ruby Jean Zwiefel O’Neil. He graduated from Richfield High School, Class of 1976. 

Danny married Julie Ann Meacham November 30, 1979 in Delta, Utah. They were later divorced. He married Rose Ann Bird July 27, 2016 in Manti, Utah. 

Danny was a trucker for 35 years and had been last working for Koch Trucking. He was a family man and every time he was at home from the road, he would make time to see his family. He LOVED to joke around. 

Danny loved doing wood working projects, camping and hunting and having barbeques with his family.  He will be greatly missed. 

Danny is survived by his wife, Rose, of Redmond; children: Andrew and Tabby O’Neil of Delta; Melissa and Jaime Zaragoza, Angela and Tacho Berthud, all of Oasis; Jessica and Teryl Harman of Lehi; Jason and Kassie Allen of Centerfield; Jonathan and Kandi Allen of Annabella; 29 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; his father, Michael Dean O’Neil Sr. of Cotopaxi, Colorado; and siblings: Richard and Becky O’Neil of Reno, Nevada; and Doug and Pam O’Neil of Aurora; Sue O’Neil of Salt Lake City. 

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Jean; two sons: Danny G. O’Neil Jr. and Michael Dean O’Neil; and a grandson, Jake Edward Ekker. 

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 12 Noon in the Redmond Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the services. Due to COVID-19, all attendees are required to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines. 

Burial with military honors accorded by the Redmond American Legion Post #118 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Redmond Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
