Feb. 7, 1935 ~ March 2, 2021
Barbara Ann Williams passed away March 2, 2021, at age 86.
Born in Carson City, Nevada February 7, 1935, she was the daughter of Leland Birch and Mae Birch (Cahoon).
Bobby, as Mae affectionately called her, grew up on a small farm outside of Fillmore, Utah in the Pahvant Range. There she loved working on the farm with the family and attending Millard High School, where she enjoyed being a cheerleader and studies. In her dating years, her Dad would tease that he was keeping her from holding hands with the boys because her hands smelled like the cows she hand-milked.
Barbara attended Utah State University with a scholarship, and in drama, play write, debate and speaking. She enjoyed education and the many opportunities of speaking publicly and expanding her many talents. In 1955, Barbara married Harold (Alan) Wood of Holden, UT and had three children. She later married Gerald Williams of Malad Idaho in 1998.
Barbara loves the spirit and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many positions including in Ward and Stake Relief Society. She went on to become a Reiki Master and practiced with dedication for more than 25 years helping, healing and devoting herself to the care of those in need. She was a teacher and helped many gain their certifications. Throughout her life, she reached out and up.
She loved the sayings from her mother, well the safe ones to say in public, "Bobby, it doesn't matter what happens to you, it is what you do with it." This led her to master many difficulties in her life, self-heal and understand the physical and spiritual needs of others.
Barbara was preceded in death by her Mother, Father, step-father Harold Cahoon, brother and his wife and her 17-year-old cat, Diamond. Her three children are LeeAnn Wood (Millcreek UT), Steve Wood (Laura) (Salt Lake City UT), and Robin Wood Jex (Hooper, UT). She has 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Many of whom affectionately call her Grandma Monkeys.
A viewing will be held at Olpin Stevens Funeral Home (55 W 200 S, Fillmore, UT) on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 12:00 noon. The funeral services are to be held at the same location at 1 p.m. Immediately following the funeral, the internment will be held at the Fillmore City Cemetery.
Special appreciations are extended to Jay and the Birch family for the inspired gift of burial plot. As well, a heartfelt thank you to Encompass Hospice who lovingly helped our mother come home, out of a lonely nursing home to be loved by her family and friends prior to her passing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Encompass Hospice to ensure loved ones do not die alone.
