Christen Craig Christensen passed on to heaven Saturday, June 10, 2023, in Orem, Utah, at age 77.
Craig was born in Payson, Utah on April 19, 1946, to Clarence Evan and Lucy Finlinson Christensen. He grew up in Delta, Utah, and graduated from Delta High School.
Craig served an LDS mission in Eastern Canada. He loved serving on his mission, serving the Lord and others through all his subsequent church callings.
Craig was a combat veteran of the Vietnam War. Because of his brave service, he was awarded the bronze star.
He married Jacqueline Rogers on June 19, 1971, in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Together they have four children: Christen David Christensen, Amy Lynn Lee (Sam), Sarah Jane Christensen, and Michael James Christensen (Keri).
Craig attended BYU and continued his education, earning a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from The University of Utah. His career was in engineering. He worked at Hughes Aircraft, General Dynamics, Pertec, Teledyne Systems, Motorola, and Raytheon, where he designed instruments for the Iridium satellite system and defense structures including various ICBM missiles, the M1 Abrams tank, the HARM missile, and the PAM Missile, among other things. Craig also worked at Deseret Industries.
Craig had many interests, especially his family. Other interests included: the sciences, world history, family history, space exploration, musical compositions, playing the guitar and clarinet, photography, writing, designing, and rhino hunting in Africa.
Craig is survived by his wife and three children; his sister: Karen Christensen West (Vance); grandchildren: Devin, Hannah, Ethan, Andrew, and Charles; Justice, Jacob, and Josh; Alexander, Olivia, Emma, and Jack; great-granddaughter: Lily.
Loved ones who preceded him to heaven are his parents, oldest sister: Mary Jo Christensen; older brother: Winston Evan Christensen; and his eldest son: Christen David Christensen. We believe they all rejoiced at his arrival.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 16, 11 a.m., at the LDS chapel at 810 East 600 North in Orem, Utah. A Viewing will be held 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. prior to the service. Family and friends unable to attend are invited to view the recorded video of the service. Link will be posted with his obituary at www.nicklemortuary.com by Friday afternoon. Interment with military honors will be at 3:30 p.m. at the Oak City Cemetery.
