Isabelle Fay Petersen passed peacefully from this life on July 25, 2023 in Monroe, Utah at the age of 89.
She knew without question, that she was loved beyond measure. This eternal affection was demonstrated once again by her loving children and adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren who gathered to her bedside on Pioneer Day. She truly has a posterity that reverently calls her "blessed".
Fay was born to Stephen Grant and Dorothy "Dot" Lovine Ames Palmer on December 15, 1933 in Pocatello, Idaho. She was the youngest of seven children and openly admitted to being one spoiled girl. She grew up on a farm and learned the value of integrity and hard work: lessons she has passed on to her family.
She married Duane Orrin Petersen on October 16, 1953, in the Idaho Falls Temple. To this union they added five precious children.
There is much that could be said about Fay's education, the jobs she held, her extensive service to the community, her activity in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the many church callings she fulfilled faithfully with enthusiasm and dedication, but what she will be remembered for the most is her absolute love of life, family, and friends. She loved fiercely and demonstrated it through actions more often than verbal expressions.
Fay made friends easily and thoroughly enjoyed being with them. She liked decorating her home for every occasion and hosting friends and family. She loved to serve those around her. She was a list maker, an exceptional homemaker, and a confirmed organizer.
Fay added color to the lives of all who knew her. She was a sports enthusiast, whether as a participant or a spectator: she loved baseball, football, basketball, golf, and bowling. She also delighted in being a member of the Red Hat Society.
She grieved over the loss of her husband, granddaughter Rachelle Thompson, in-laws, parents and all six of her siblings, as well as many of her friends that left this world and her behind.
Fay will be sorely missed by her children: Camille (Chris) Thompson, Mark (Tamie) Petersen, Lee Petersen, Cheryl (Scott) Gurney, Ann Knowles, 9 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren, along with all her extended family, friends, and neighbors.
The family appreciates all those who visited and helped Fay throughout the years. They are also filled with gratitude for the loving angels at the Monroe Canyon Assisted Living Center who took such tender care of Fay in her final days
A visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023, both at the Fillmore City Cemetery.
