He was born on July 11, 1954, to Mont and LaNae Lloyd Fitzgerald. He was a kind, quiet man with a heart of gold.

Kay was born in the Heber Valley and was raised in Woodland, Utah where he spent his childhood on the ranch swimming the river, and in the mountains watching over livestock. He went to school in Kamas and graduated from South Summit High School. He then attended  Snow College and went on to graduate from Utah State University.

On June 28, 1980, Kay married the love of his life, Janette Rutledge in Pleasant Grove. They were later sealed in the Dallas Texas Temple. Together they created a beautiful home full of love and laughter. He loved his family and was so incredibly proud of them. He attended every event and sat silently in the stands beaming with pride.

His love for horses started at a young age and was a constant throughout his life. Whether it was rodeoing in college, training performance horses in Texas, or breaking colts for those he knew, he was well respected for his gentle hand and way with horses. On his days off he could be found leading his horses to the barn to ride, socialize, and lend a helping hand.

He was known for his strong work ethic and dedicated his life to taking care of his family and those around him. Anyone that knew him or worked with him knew they could count on him.  Kay was well respected by his coworkers of more than 37 years at the Intermountain Power Project. He was always there to guide and encourage with a steady hand and a calm demeanor. It is hard to put into words the impact he had on those lucky enough to truly know him.

Kay Fitzgerald is survived by his mother: LaNae Fitzgerald; his loving wife: Janette Fitzgerald; and their children: Judd (Haley) Fitzgerald, Lawson (Tressa) Fitzgerald, Devri (Russell) Christensen; and 7 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father and brother, Rod Fitzgerald.
