Our loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, Jeanne Sweeting Alderman, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 18, 2023 in Fults, Illinois.
She was born in Fillmore, Utah on September 24, 1952 to Franklin Roy Sweeting and Geraldine Lowder.
Jeanne spent her childhood between Fillmore and Grantsville, attending school in both places. She married Clell Edwards in 1972. The couple had two daughters, Shyanne and Shannon. Jeanne and Clell divorced in 1978 but remained close friends while raising their daughters.
In the following years Jeanne met Chadd Alderman, who had two children, Zane and Andrea, from his first marriage. Jeanne and Chadd married in 1986 and together had three children, Sausha, Chelsey, and Brennan. The family lived in Fillmore until 1998 and then moved to Southern Illinois where Jeanne lived for the remainder of her life.
Jeanne was loving, smart, kind, and strong. She left an everlasting impression on all her children and grandchildren. She was incredibly talented and crafty. From tole painting to quilting, she always had a project or two in the making. There was never a project she couldn't do, all with good intentions of finishing of course.
You could often find Jeanne spending quality time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed chatting or playing games on her telephone with her children and sisters. She especially enjoyed cheering on her favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals, with her beloved Great Dane "Diamond" by her side.
Jeanne lived for her family. She was very proud of her children, but even more so of her grandchildren. She always made sure that each and every one of them knew just how much she loved them. She was an angel in their eyes.
Though she is no longer with us, Jeanne has left a beautiful legacy filled with much love and joy in the hearts of those lucky enough to have known her.
She is survived by her father Franklin Roy Sweeting; children Shyanne (Jared) Tullis, Zane Alderman, Shannon (Ken Porter) Sivongsa, Andrea Alderman, Sausha (Michael Plunkett) Alderman, Chelsey (Tyler Cleland) Alderman and Brennan Alderman; sisters Gayle Labrum, JoLynn Stevens and Tina (Wayne) Holding; brothers Lewis (Lysa) Sweeting, Les (Kim) Sweeting and Jack (Marieda) Church; her many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chadd P. Alderman; her mother Geraldine Lowder Church; sisters Sharlene and Louise; an infant sister Baby Girl Sweeting; in-laws Lloyd and Laura Alderman; and brother-in-law Glade Stevens.
The family appreciates the thoughts and acts of kindness and comfort at this time.
Funeral services will be held Saturday January 13, 2024, at 1 p.m. in the Fillmore Stake Center, Fillmore, Utah with a visitation prior to services from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment will be at the Fillmore Cemetery. Online condolences at rasmussenmortuary.com.
