December 1, 1950  ~  January 14, 2024

Peggy Jean Stanworth Johnson, age 73, passed away on January 14, 2024 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was born on December 1, 1950 the second of six daughters born to Wardell and Janet Sanford Stanworth. Her family moved to Magna, Utah when she was 6 years old. She grew up in the Salt Lake Valley. During her early years, Peggy contracted Rheumatic Fever, the effects of which caused her difficulty throughout her childhood. Peggy was forced to miss a lot of school because of illness. However, Peggy was determined and graduated from Cyprus High School. She then attended Hollywood Beauty College and earned a degree in Cosmetology. While attending the Stake Gold & Green Ball, she spent an enchanting evening with a young man that would sweep her of her feet. Peggy married Dennis Abner Johnson on January 16, 1971 in Magna, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River LDS Temple on February 22, 1984.

Peggy and Dennis soon made their home in Delta, Utah. Peggy started working at Nona Chesley's Beauty Salon. Later she worked for Dove's Grocery Store, and in the early 1980's began work at The Pizza House. She enjoyed preparing food and working with the people, staying with them until she retired in 2001. Peggy loved being participating with her friends in the community. She was a strong member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, the Red Hat Ladies, and participated with friends in a bi-weekly quilting retreat. Peggy was skilled in arts and crafts, paper making, card design and scrapbooking. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving many years in the Primary and Young Women's organizations.

Peggy's greatest love was her family, especially time with her grandchildren. She loved animals, especially her dog, Babe. She had an irreverent sense of humor, and a compassionate soul. She acted as a second mom to many of her kid's friends, always looking out for their well-being. Peggy will be deeply missed.

Peggy is survived by her husband: Dennis; children: Jodi Johnson; Kelly Green; Randy (Kelli) Johnson; Lance (Jenifer) Johnson; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren (with one on the way); sisters: Ellen Tracy; Carolyn Williams; Judy Schwartz; Joan Caldwell. She is preceded in death by her sister: Connie Christensen.
