To the editor:

Cynthia Wiley passed away in a house fire Oct. 6, 2023. She was 57.

There is rumor that is going around that the house fire that claimed the life of Cynthia has been determined to have started in an outlet in the room she was asleep in. Rumors have made their way around the community that the fire was somehow started by Cynthia herself with some going as far as indicating that it was a suicide.

The state fire marshal’s office determined the fire to be accidental with no determination of the cause. Cynthia’s family wants to set the record straight, so to speak.

Cynthia was troubled but she was not a bad person. At times she was difficult. She could be stubborn. She did not deserve this fate or these rumors. The family of Cynthia requests respect and an end to the rumors. Let Cynthia rest in peace.

A celebration of life is scheduled to be held at Fillmore North Park on June 22 at 1 p.m.

If you would like to make a donation to help Cynthia’s family, note the Venmo QR code accompanying this note.

Donations can also be made at Millard County Credit Union to the Cynthia Wiley Memorial Fund.
